Throughout this first semester I have made an incredible discovery. A discovery of a synthesis of ideas and analysis, a discovery of a world yet to explored, and an uncovering of a fountain of potential. My thought process. And my English class helped me to better understand these mental dynamics.
Going through Shakespeare, Sophie's World, Kite Runner and Beat by Beat. I've delved into this incredible concept of deep analysis. Although it is a simple concept, it's an incredible breaking of surface level ideology. Now, my mind has come to naturally subsume this concept, to analyze these ideas that are thrown at me instantly. It's an incredible process that has changed my outlook to everything and come to recognize the infinite amount of interpretations. This is a great change, as it wasn't always natural or subconscious, it was actually difficult to come up with good analysis and draw multiple connections. Thankfully, it's become much easier to do so.
An example is reading King Lear. I've come to recognize it as a masterpiece, opposed to the confusing bundle of Olde English I've viewed it as before. Walking through the play as a class really opened me up to a scholar's perspective. I recognized the genius in the language, the out of this world connections, an incredible play on words and the elements of literature Shakespeare incorporated into the play (through the informance). Although these insights were at first forced, they've come more easily to me and eventually spilled over into all areas of my life. That includes my analyzation of world history, language, science, even ethics and the events of life.
This idea of indepth analysis remains simple upon it's own standing, but it should be recognized as more. A multifaceted instrument of literature and understanding. It necessitates discovery and "practice" but it's an amazing tool and allows you to achieve a greater understanding and fullness within education and life itself.
